Individual Psychotherapy
With the competing demands of today's fast-paced lives, is it any wonder so many of us feel overwhelmed, pulled in multiple directions, finding it difficult to focus ... function ... or cope? Many of us find ourselves juggling multiple roles - trying to care for kids or aging parents or both and manage our job or career and oh, yes, pay bills and find time, somehow, for that significant other who need our attention too. It feels at times like everyone wants something from you, yet you feel increasingly there is nothing left inside you to give - and your frustration grows along with your fatigue and sense of guilt over not being able to do "it" ... whatever "it" is ... that mystical measure infused by our culture of what we "should" be handling/ doing/ creating/ being.
And so we feel depressed .... anxious ..... and that's without throwing in the stress of a chronic health condition, job loss, divorce, move to a new city, and other life event .....
The truth is, we aren't wired to handle stress at this level by ourselves. For thousands of years, the activities which modern humans segment and designate to individuals - like caring for children and elderly parents and gathering / preparing food - was a shared enterprise, shifted between multiple members of the larger group. Everyone in the group took part so that no one person was saddled with more that s/he could bear.
Psychotherapy bridges that gap. You can think of it as extending a hand or offering a shoulder so you aren't bearing the load alone. Together, the load is lighter, the task is do-able..... the mountain climbable. Our hand is extended.

Couples/ Marital Therapy
Sadly, intimate relationships are often the most under-reported casualties of stress.
As tensions rise, we may snap at those closest to us.
Feeling overwhelmed, we may overlook the needs of our partner.
Or we may not even know what is fueling the ever increasing, ever escalating
arguments that leave you feeling increasingly distant .... resentful .... and concerned.
Couples or marital therapy can help. With therapy, you and your partner can :
: learn how to juggle schedules, chores, and parenting tasks
: improve communication
: learn healthy ways to handle conflict
: address parenting issues

Family Therapy
We don't live in a vacuum and what impacts one person in the family affects everyone in the family.
A person experiencing PTSD may need individual therapy for symptoms of anxiety,
depression and thoughts of suicide. But her/his partner is likely significantly impacted by his/her disorder, too. Perhaps the individual has withdrawn from the partner or exhibits episodes of rage, which has so alarmed the partner that s/he has withdrawn from them. Maybe the children are frightened, too, and are acting out in school.
Clearly, to help the individual requires intervention not only at the personal level but possibly with the couple relationship and potentially with the entire family. At the very least, it is important that the therapist is aware of how all of these factors interact and
influence each other.
In addition, some situations, by their nature, suggest intervention at the family level. Difficulties adjusting to changes within the family, as in divorce, re-marriage, blended family, adoption and behavior problems in children and adolescents respond well to family therapy. Family therapy may involve all or many family members or only one or two.

Coaching
Do you feel like a hamster spinning around in it's wheel?....running and running but getting no where?
Is there an idea gnawing inside of you that you haven't pursued .... and you know
all the reasons WHY you haven't pursued it ... but still .... it gnaws at you and
gnaws at you ...
Do you feel like you're in a dead-end job? Does your career feel stifled?
Do you feel "stuck"? Do you feel you ought to do something but aren't sure WHAT?
Or do you feel something is missing .... that you could be more ... or do more ...... ??
Coaching may be able to help. Coaching helps access inner resources, tackle challenges, overcome barriers, and define and achieve your goals. Unlike psychotherapy, coaching looks FORWARD. It doesn't delve into the past or ask, "Why" am I blocked?" it asks, "WHAT is blocking me?" and "HOW do I move forward?"

Group Therapy
Group therapy is a great way to gain support or learn new skills with others who are struggling with similar concerns.
Support groups for newly divorced individuals or single parents are examples of support groups of this type.

Structured groups help to teach and reinforce new skills in addition to gaining
the support of others.
Groups teach skills such as anger control, stress management, and assertive
communication skills.
Groups are tailored to the needs of participants and several are designed adults and teens with developmental disabilities. Participants are provided with workbooks that support the learning process.
Some groups are available for online participation. For information please contact us by phone or email.

Psychological Testing
Does my child have autism spectrum disorder? Is my family member eligible for supportive services due to a disability? Is my child;s difficulties in school due to a learning disability? Is it ADHD or is it anxiety? Is it grief or major depressive disorder? Is it bipolar disorder or schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type?
Psychological testing testing answers questions about diagnoses related to
disorders generally identified in the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM-V) and
ICD-10. Appropriate diagnosis is important. Treatment for anxiety is completely
different from treatment for ADHD, yet the presentation of these disorders in
children is similar.

Many local, state and federal programs require a diagnosis for eligibility for services.
Assessment services are available for ages 2 through 82.
